You know, all this time I thought the giant Gundam in Odaiba was just that…a statue. Did you know it was battle-ready??? NO JOKE!! I was standing there taking pictures when this music came on and the Gundam machine started moving its head. The Gundam’s eyes lit up, and some steamed from the robot. I peed myself a little bit, because it was unexpected. Granted, the Gundam didn’t do a whole lot, but seeing something that size even moving it’s head around can really catch your attention. Did I want a display of the RX-78’s (Gundam model number) missile & cannon arsenal? Of course! But I guess, running the battle demonstration program and shooting missiles and cannons into a crowd of civilians would be a bit of liablilty issue.
Here’s a brief look at the Gundam demo that I saw:

I want one. In pink and red with purple to blue flames down the sides with paint done by house of color +_+ with jet thrusters, heat seeking missiles and a really good GPS since i get lost easy and the AI from Iron Man. Oh, and a cotton candy maker in the driver’s seat. With an ergonomic seat. +_+

Pretty Cool, Donald! BTW do u know how long the Gundam will be up in Odaiba this time? Im planning on coming out to Japan May 2013, last tme we were out there (2010) the Gundam statute was already dismantled and stored. Hope this wont happen this time around.
The Gundam is definitely a summer thing. I don’t remember exactly when they took it down, though…late August, maybe? I’ll have to check on that. Thanks for the post, Josh!
I think the Gundam is now a permanent fixture in Odaiba. It’s been up all year (2013). Hopefully it stays there.

i don’t thing its battle ready Donald, shoulda moved its arms and legs tho. But still sure is AWESOME!
I guess you’re right, Rex. It’s not battle ready. I guess toy store robots can move their heads, too.
What I didn’t tell you is that I’m really a five-star Gundam pilot. What I didn’t show in the video was me hopping into that machine and showing everyone what the RX78 can REALLY do 😉 .
Hi!
I’m glad to meet and talk to you today.
This site is very interesting!
Sometimes I’ll come here.
Thank U(^-^)
Thanks for stopping by. It was nice talking to you, too 🙂
It’s not battle ready if it was arms and legs would have moved.
True, true. What the video didn’t show was the missile launch after the head started turning hehehehe. Nah, I guess not. I probably wouldn’t be able to respond to you if that were the case.
