Colors in Japanese

By Donnie | Articles

Okay, this isn’t going to be a very long post, but I definitely think it’s an important. Knowing basic colors are as important as being able to count in a language, it’s one of those basics that you would easily take for granted in your native language. Unfortunately, though, Japanese isn’t my native tongue. I have been here in Japan for far too long not to have a bigger repertoire of colors in my vocabulary, but I need to work on them, so let’s practice our colors, okay?

Red- Aka,
Orange- Daidaiiro,
Yellow- Kiiro,
Green- Midori,
Light Blue-Mizuiro,
Blue- Ao,
Purple/Violet- Murasaki,
Black- Kuro,
White- Shiro,
Gray- Haiiro/ Gurey,
Pink- Pinku,
Silver- Giniro,
Gold- Kiniro,
Brown- Chairo,

I hope you found this useful. See you next post!!
