A Depiction of Life as an Expat in Japan Through Nintendo Piano Music

By Gareth Jones | Videos

Gareth and I had some time after our interview together, so he decided to do something special after we finished. He had been thinking of doing this, and I figured it was great idea. He’s an awesome piano player and has a good sense of humor (as you can probably tell). The funny thing is, these are some of the basic types of songs that Gareth can play. I’ve seen him really go to work on the piano. Maybe I haven’t even seen entirely what he’s capable of when he sits down a keyboard/piano, but needless to say, it’s always an entertaining session to watch. Take a look at his description of life as an expat in Japan through piano music…Nintendo piano music:

Hey Sonic is not Nintendo but SEGA!! I like Sonic too by the way so it’s all good.

Yeah, Sonic…definitely SEGA, but the Green Hill Zone music is such a classic that I had to ask him to play it.

Ha! How did I miss this? Really cool. Gareth is amazing on the piano and this reminded me so much of my childhood. I knew every one of those pieces of music :).

I thought it was pretty cool, too, Amanda. Those video game pieces are pure gold.
