I was looking at the NHK World broadcast on channel 2 here in Japan, and few hours ago I saw the report that over 6000 people are dead, and over 10,000 others are unaccounted for. It is so disheartening to turn on the television and see the broadcasts announcing these long lists of names. I’m not sure if these are the dead or the missing but it doesn’t really matter, all of it’s sad.
There have been several people to ask where they can send donations, and I sure there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of places to send donations. Of course you could donate through Google or Paypal, but I was watching NHK World and they gave me this website: www.jrc.or.jp/english. This is the official website for the Japanese Red Cross, and organization that’s going to be essential in assisting with disaster relief efforts. I accessed the page but had a hard time making a donation directly from this page. I found another page that allows you to make payments to the organizations of your choice via Paypal and Google: http://www.google.co.jp/intl/en/crisisresponse/japanquake2011.html. This is where I donated, and if you are able, every little bit helps…and the Japanese citizens need it more than you know…especially in those areas hit by the Tsunami.
