The Japan Guy Featured in the Hayabusa Movie (はやぶさ)

Hey guys, this is just a quick post to let you know that I just saw myself on the silver screen for the first time. I got to see myself for a whopping 5 seconds (or somewhere thereabouts) . Last summer I was an extra in the latest Hayabusa movie, starring Ken Watanabe (playing the role of Junichiro Kawaguchi, Haybusa Project Manager). This film showed the struggles it took for JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agencey) to get the unmanned, Hayabusa spacecraft to launch and successfully retrieve asteroid samples. There were quite a few extras in the film, and I haven’t been very lucky when it comes to gigs like this. I did two promotion...

The Japan Guy Featured in a Domino’s Pizza Commercial!

Ha ha ha…fooled ya! Well, sort of. I wasn’t in a TV commercial for Domino’s but I was in a Domino’s Pizza Web commercial. In this commerical, three friends are at the park talking, when this voluptuous woman (and I do mean voluptuous…sorry…but she was) comes walking by. In the commercial I’m talking on the phone with my Mom, and when I see the woman, my conversation completely stops. My two friends also stop talking as we watch the beautiful woman pass by. The camera zooms in on all of the woman’s generous curves, as we comment on what we’re seeing. “Unbelievable!” “Mama mia, delcious!” “So…BIG!” You later find out that we’re looking talking...

The Japan Guy Featured in the Kaley in Japan Blog

My brain must be turning into ooze or something because I completely forgot that I wrote this article. Kaley in Japan is one of the newer Japan blogs out there, but she reached out to me when doing this piece called “What Japan Bloggers Have to Say About Japan.” This article was a compilation of bloggers’ thoughts on some of their favorite places to visit. I wrote my piece on the city of Nara, in Kansai Japan. Because it was my first time visiting Kansai, my first time on the Shinkansen (bullet train), I was surrounded by good friends, and because the weather was absolutely perfect…I just loved it. You can check out my...

Japan Guy Silliness Featured on the Bone Facebook Fan Page

Sometimes you don’t realize the effects of something until after you do it. I made this video and post called My Japanese Pocket Ninja back in December of 2010. It was about my Bone (name of the company), Ninja USB drive. No, I’m not talking about the old rap group (whatever happened to Bone…they were the shiznit back in the day?), there’s no way I could end up on their fan page as unless it was strictly as a fan (because I have absolutely zero rap skills). Anyway, the video didn’t really get all that much attention, similar to many of my YouTube videos (just being honest…but I make them because I like making...

The Japan Guy Featured in the Back To Life Blog Party

Hey everybody, I recently had a chance to be a guest writer for the Loco in Yokohama blog and it was really a lot of fun. Loco is a fellow blogger who’s been in Japan for quite some time, and it was cool getting a chance to finally do something together. This was definitely one of my sillier articles, but I thought the questions were a little different from the norm. The first two questions: 1) What’s the most Loco thing you’ve done in Japan? 2) Why do you blog about Japan. The third was a question of my choice: How is Japan like the video games that it’s so famous for? Just to...

The Japan Guy Interviewed on the WDEVN Show in Taiwan. COOL!

I did an interview a few weeks ago with Mr. James Thomas of the WDEVN show in Taiwan and had a really good time doing it. Officially this is my first live, Japan Guy interview, so if you have a little bit of time and feel like listening, I hope you enjoy it. James was really easy to talk to and has some pretty cool stories of his own. I may have to do something with him in the future, as he comes to Japan from time to time. If you have any questions for me about the interview, or just any general questions, please let me know in the comments section. I’ll make...

The Japan Guy Featured on Bridges-Episode 13. Sweet!

Hi everybody, I wanted to write up a quick post about the Japan Guy being featured on the “Bridges” blog, Episode 13. Hiroki Matsuchi, creator of the Bridges blog and podcast, sent me an email a little while back about being featured on his site. I happily agreed. I’ve seen his coverage of some other blogs and listened to some of his Bad Communication podcasts, and they’ve always been super informative. It’s really an honor to be on the site. After looking at feature, I see one improvement I can make here at the Japan Guy…going back and re-check my posts for typos (oops). I did fix the How Much Do You Make as...
